homemade panini delight

March 28, 2013

Maybe it sounds funny, but I'm a bread lover. If I could, I would love to eat it everyday...fresh french baguette is my obsession...but I'm a little:) obsessive about my figure too, so not to often I allow myself some white bread:). I especially love to eat it as a panini, which is really easy and quick to make
(even if you don't have panini press- I still don't...:).
So, last weekend having my friends over, I made these paninis, and everybody really enjoyed them.
( at least they said so :).

fried chicken breast or grilled chicken ( shredded )
cream cheese
shredded mozarella cheese or mexican cheese
tomatoes (sliced)
onion (sliced)

Spread bread with cream cheese and add all the remaining ingredients as desired. Warm the sandwich on both sides on a skillet ( or best option- use panini press if you have one) just to enough to brown the bread on both sides (make sure that cheese is melted). I served them with mayo and ketchup mixed together.
Bon appetit!

black & white

March 27, 2013

Looking at the trends of this spring, black & white is a total must have. Specifically, a head to toe look is the look for spring 2013. This classical color combination should suit just about everyone and meet everyone's taste. It's not just about being formal anymore. Wearing black & white is a new statement trend that can be playful, chic and is just perfect (for me for sure!).

daisy obsession

March 26, 2013

I don't remember when I was in love with a fragrance as much as I'm in love with this Marc Jacobs Daisy Eau So Fresh. During my two pregnancies and while nursing, I literally couldn't stand any fragrance and every trip to Sephora was a horror. Before Daisy, I wore DKNY for a while then I switched to Escada, but none of these scents stole my heart. And a few weeks ago, being in fragrance need, I tried Daisy Eau So Fresh and became obsessed with it. It's a very light, fresh scent with delicate floral and friuty tones. For me it smells divine and the package...specifically, its top is just gorgeous. Just look and admire:).
Definitely my favorite scent ever!

color the rain

March 24, 2013

With spring upon us ( although it's still freezing and snowy outside, hopefully...) April showers are just around the corner ( with warmer temperatures). But...there is always a but:) here come gloomy and rainy days. So, to color these days, I say yes to these awesome and chic Hunter boots which we can easily style with shorts, skirts, jeans or dresses ( and have a little fun by stepping into puddles:).  They are versatile, cute and...pricey... for a pair of rain boots, but sometimes it's good to spoil ourselves with a guilty, colorful pleasure. I'm still debating whether to buy or not to buy...since I love my Kamik boots.

my pick this week- love lanvin & crème de la crème

March 22, 2013

Today's my pick this week is definitely one of those that it's good that we don't have to pay for dreams..:) My first choice is a Lanvin t-shirt. It may be already known from this post and is a piece that I adore, but it is totally out of my budget since the price is astronomical for a t-shirt...but if I were a millionaire, yes, it would be mine :)...and I'm not crazy :). As Giorgio Armani said, ' I've always thought of the T-shirt as the Alpha and Omega of the fashion alphabet'. Seems to sound so right in this theme :).
The second pick is Zoe Karssen crème de la crème sweatshirt, which is not anything new but I really really like it. Its simplicity and its quote, this is it! Unfortunately, it's sold out I think everywhere...:(
So, to satisfy my lusts in just a small way, here are my ideas of how I would style the sweatshirt and
 t-shirt for an everyday look.

decor with grey & yellow

March 21, 2013

There is something about grey & yellow color combination that catches my eye. It definitely gives the home a modern touch and can be great way to refresh our homes. The best way to get the perfect grey & yellow look would be to paint most walls grey and  maybe a few white and then just add the mostly yellow colored items. But if painting the walls grey is out of the question, the two tone color combination of decorative items will look great  as well on white background.

skinny taquitos delight

March 20, 2013

Five years ago, the only thing I could literally make were sandwiches and maybe some fried chicken...but marriage forced me to start to cook :). And five years later, I can say that I am not that bad when it comes to cooking :). While it's still not my favorite thing to do, but at least I don't hate it anymore :). So, inspired by two people, my mom, who I think makes the fanciest dishes in the world :) and my girlfriend, who literally taught me everything in the kitchen and had to answer maybe some of the most ridiculous questions starting with how to make chicken noodle soup...:), I started two cook and even bake. Some of the recipes I make are theirs, with just a little twist from me, such as taquitos which I ate for the first time at my girlfriend's. Since, I love Mexican food I fell in love with them and made my skinny version.

3 large chicken breasts
1 cup low- fat mexican cheese
1/3 cup non-fat greek yogurt ( original sour cream)
1/2 cup taco sauce
1 pack of taco seasoning mix
tortillas ( I use whole wheat ones )

Mix chicken breasts with taco seasoning mix and fry. Shred fried chicken and mix with cheese, yogurt, taco sauce and chopped cilantro. Fill tortillas and roll them. Bake at 350 F (180 C) for about 10 - 15 minutes.
I usually serve them with homemade guacamole ( two avocados, small tomato, a little onion and chopped cilantro- mix everything and garnish with salt and lime).

dot dot dot...polka dot

March 19, 2013

I'm not a big fan of printed blouses, but there is something about polka dot blouses that attracts my attention. Maybe, it's the simplicity...whatever it is here are five styles of polka dot blouses in five different sets.

decor with white

March 14, 2013

With spring just around a corner, it's good to start to think about how to get freshness into our homes. Since it's not so easy to change the entire home decor, the best way to do it is to add just few pieces that will brighten and give a fresh look to our homes ( don't forget to clean :). My choice for this season and the most versatile is to add white. White decorative pillows or vases, picture frames or plant pots or even furniture ( if we think about bigger change) can do wonders for our homes.
